New Partnership highlights fire safety for equestrian employers
11th April 2025
The Equestrian Employers Association (EEA) is delighted to welcome IMG Equine as our newest partner and sponsor, joining us in our mission to raise health and safety standards across the equestrian industry.
As part of their responsibilities, yard proprietors and employers have a legal obligation to carry out Fire Risk Assessments. Failure to carry out this essential task can result in serious consequences, including severe fines and even prosecution.
To support equestrian businesses in meeting these legal requirements, IMG is offering EEA members an exclusive discounted rate on their Fire Risk Assessment service.
Their team of specialists understands the unique setup of equestrian yards and is well-equipped to help employers identify and manage fire hazards effectively. This partnership comes at a crucial time, as awareness around fire safety – a frequently overlooked but potentially devastating risk – is growing.

"We are delighted to be partnering with the Equestrian Employers Association to support the equestrian industry in promoting a safe and healthy workplace including essential fire safety awareness. Health and safety is not only a legal requirement, but morally it is a critical part of managing a safe, professional yard to ensure the welfare of all involved.
At IMG, we’re passionate about helping yard proprietors and grooms build confidence in managing all aspects of health and safety, including vital fire prevention and preparedness, and we look forward to working closely with the EEA and its members to raise standards and keep people, horses, and property safe."

In preparation for the launch of this service, IMG conducted a comprehensive audit of the EEA’s Health & Safety resources, including our Health & Safety Manual Creator and Risk Assessment Creator, ensuring they meet the highest standards and continue to provide practical, relevant guidance for our members.
Please note that due to the specific nature of fire safety legislation, this assessment cannot be carried out using the EEA’s Risk Assessment Creator.

“We are thrilled to be working with IMG,” they bring a wealth of experience and practical expertise to a subject that is often underestimated but can have catastrophic consequences if ignored. This partnership will help our members take real, practical steps towards ensuring their yards are safe and legally compliant.”

The risks associated with poor fire safety planning are all too real – highlighted by the awful experience of dressage coach Tori Peter, who experienced a devastating fire on her yard in 2024 or Lucy Counsell who lost her staff accommodation to fire.
