LPC release their 2022 annual report
19th January 2023
In June 2022, the Equestrian Employers Association (EEA) responded to the Low Pay Commission's (LPC) National Minimum wage consultation.
Prior to this, we ran a survey to gain the views of equestrian business owners (who run yards) and incorporated these views into our response.
The LPC consultation report has now been published.
For the first time, the views of the equestrian sector have been incorporated, with the EEA being the only organisation from the sector to respond.
The EEA are specifically quoted within the report on several occasions, giving rise to the equestrian viewpoint within the following sections:
- Use of the National Minimum Wage youth rates
- Productivity and Investment
- The accommodation offset
- Compliance with the National Minimum Wage
- Concerns over the rise of the National Minumum Wage and its impact on business viability
The EEA says “It is significant that the employers voice has been heard on this subject matter. The NMW and NLW rates are something that we would be highly unlikely to have an impact upon, however the focus on the accommodation offset rate is different. As a sector that has a high level of employees living in, and often in accommodation that is valued far more than the set rate, we will ensure our voice is heard on this in the next round of consultations.”
