The Low Pay Commission Consultation

The Equestrian Employers Association (EEA), at the request of the Low Pay Commission (LPC), is to be the voice of all equestrian employers running a yard, by composing a collective response to their consultation on National Minimum Wage rates.

The LPC is the independent body that advises the Government on the level of the minimum wage. They have been asked to recommend the National Minimum Wage (NMW) and National Living Wage (NLW) rates to apply from April 2023.

The purpose of the consultation is to gain evidence on the broad economic and labour market conditions that workers and businesses are facing, as well as the specific impacts of the rates themselves

The EEA is running a survey inviting all equestrian employers who run a yard to take part and have their say on set pay thresholds, the results of which, will formulate the response to the LPC consultation.

“I urge equestrian employers to complete the survey and take this opportunity to have their voices heard on this matter. The rise in National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates year upon year has a significant impact on our businesses and their viability. We must do all we can to influence change in this area and advocate for our industry. The views of equestrian employers are of the utmost importance to achieving this.”

Tullis Matson, EEA President
