BGA and EEA Seek Non Executive Employment and HR Director

The British Grooms Association (BGA) and Equestrian Employers Association (EEA) are seeking a non-executive Employment and HR Director to join its Board of Directors.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate previous board experience within either the commercial, sports or voluntary sector, and have marketing expertise and strategic experience.

An understanding of the equestrian world is mandatory, and an interest in the employment of the equestrian workforce, their career promotion, and how to support employers would be desirable.

The position is voluntary, with travel expenses, and offers the opportunity for close involvement in an exciting phase in the development of two of the most vibrant and important organisations in the equestrian industry.

  Job Description
Job Title : Employment and HR Director (NED)
Key Relationships : Executive Director, Board, Chairman
Job Purpose : The Employment and HR Director works in a non-executive capacity to provide leadership and strategic direction to British Grooms Association (BGA) & Equestrian Employers Association (EEA) activities concerning the provision of employment advice and HR tools.

Key Responsibilities :
• Supporting the Executive Director in providing HR advice and guidance for EEA & BGA members
• Advise on the development of employment advice and HR tools as part of the EEA membership benefits
• Liaising with the Executive Director on all HR related matters for members
• Support the development of HR tools and employment guidance for EEA members who often do not have professional HR support
• Advising on HR issues around employment, employee welfare and ensuring employers are complying with HR legislation and regulation

• A highly effective communicator and able to relate to BGA’s & EEA’s vision and mission and core values
• Motivated self-starter with a commitment to ensuring the success of EEA and BGA
• Strongly self-motivated and results driven, entrepreneurial and creative with the ability to deliver results • Have breadth of HR knowledge and experience of employment legislation and implementing HR best practice for policies and procedures, with a pro-active approach, excellent planning skills and strong project management experience
• Have a strong sense of teamwork and willing to work collaboratively with all stakeholders
• You will possess strong presentation, listening, verbal and written communication skills
• You will be a creative problem solver and are able to analyze a problem skillfully, formulate a logical rationale for the decision and take action
• Your senior-level experience will mean that you are comfortable with complexity and are aware of the impact and implications of reputational decisions on other components of an organisation, making sure that a plan is in place and all stakeholders are informed at all time

Knowledge
• Educated to degree level or equivalent, Level 7 CIPD essential
• Business & Strategic Management
• Previous experience operating as a trusted advisor to a CEO with the appropriate interpersonal skills and business acumen
• Hands-on experience leading and embedding organisational transformational change
• Equestrian sector
• Membership
