As an approved British Horse Society Riding, Livery, and Training Centre, plus a linked Pony Club Centre we offer horse riding activities plus training for both the public & Lancing College pupils. We offer good career progression for everyone in our Team through both the British Horse Society Career pathways and qualifications through Haddon Training. We pride ourselves on high professional standards whilst maintaining a fun, friendly working atmosphere.

Looking for an Apprentice to join the team

A standard week at the Centre for this position will typically include the following tasks, for which training is provided

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming as appropriate
  • Bathing
  • Rug changing
  • Assisting with client lessons & hacks
  • Schooling - once the required level of riding is achieved
  • Riding
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, long reining, pessoa training etc.) – once the required skills have been achieved
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

The successful applicant will receive regular scheduled training sessions including theoretical, practical and ridden. These will be provided by qualified Centre staff plus Haddon Training. We have regular training days delivered by a BHS assessor, with the applicant being given the option of taking BHS Stage 1 and 2 assessments at the Centre if this is desired, once the required skill levels are achieved.

The Centre proprietor has a second centre in the south and there is opportunity to spend some time, should the applicant wish, at this centre in order to experience different aspects of the equine industry
