Archie Watson Racing is seeking a motivated Assistant Head Person to join our professional and friendly team at our yard in Upper Lambourn.

This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and enthusiastic individual to play a key role within the team, assisting the Head Groom and Assistant Trainer in the day-to-day running of the yard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Head Groom and Assistant Trainer with the smooth running of the yard
  • Overseeing the yard at weekends on a rota basis
  • Daily checking and monitoring of horses
  • Feeding and general horse care
  • Assisting vets
  • Providing routine medical care and treatments
  • Riding (if requested, not essential)

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a racing yard
  • Confident and capable
  • Strong horsemanship and attention to detail
  • Reliable, organised and able to take responsibility
  • Good team player with a positive attitude

Working Pattern & Benefits:

  • Working 1 in 2 weekends with an afternoon off each week.
  • Good rate of pay
  • Share of pool money
