Manor Farm Equestrian - Assistant Yard Manager A rare opportunity has arisen at our friendly livery yard located in a rural setting on the outskirts of Leeds city centre. We are seeking an Assistant Yard Manager for our established business comprising of 10 full liveries and 15 DIY liveries. The ideal candidate will have experience in role, be confident to manage on their own and work alongside others. They will have a strong work ethic, high standards of care and tidiness. Role includes: • General yard duties - you must be able to muck out stables efficiently, be organised and be confident around horses. • Turn out and bringing in of horses, – note this is based on a 57 acre farm, you will need to be physically fit due to terrain. • Support the owner in field management, field rotation planning and maintenance. • Handling horses if owners require for Vet/ farrier etc. • Working alongside a small team on an evolving, diversified farm including livery stables and a cattery. Participation in the development of the farm through its next stages is welcome. • Work 5.5 days a week including some weekend working. Required Characteristics • A good communicator with a positive, hardworking attitude and ability to develop good working relationships with the yard owners, livery owners, on site team and external visitors (blacksmiths, vets, physios, dentists, etc). • Ability to prioritise animal welfare and demonstrate a high standard of care for horses. • Confident to manage a livery yard and take responsibility when / if the owner isn’t present. • Self-motivated, you are able to work alone or with others. • Organised, tidy, • Happy to work on a yard that has dogs. Essential skills • Broad Equestrian Knowledge and practical ability • Equine & Stable Management • Equine Health & First Aid • Hygiene & welfare knowledge • Grassland Management • Confident & experienced in management and handling of horses Desirable Skills • Schooling • Lunging • Clipping Qualifications desirable but not essential • BHSAI / BHS SM /BHSQ Level 4 Care & Management or equivalent • Experience of working on a professional yard In return you will be rewarded with a package including good salary, on-site accommodation, and assistance with living costs. Own horse negotiable, unfortunately we cannot accommodate someone who wants to bring their own dog.
