We are a private livery yard on the Suffolk/Essex border, consisting of 36 acres, featuring 15 stables, 25x60m manège, lunge pen, and cross-country practice course. The yard has easy access to the East Anglian Farm Rides accessing off-road hacks on over 55 farms in Essex.

The yard requires a new head groom that either lives locally or there is an adjacent 1 bedroom apartment (unfurnished) available at £450 a month on a separate, not job tied tenancy agreement (price includes electricity, water).

The person will be responsible for the day to day needs of the horses in livery, maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the yard, stables and equipment and organising clinics.

The suitable applicant must be at BHS Level 3 (or have other equivalent training/experience), work meticulously, expeditiously and to a high standard, is comfortable working independently as well as providing supervision to junior grooms if needed, and be capable of monitoring the health and behaviour of the horses, recognising any changes that need reporting to the horse owner.

The position does not require riding but there is the possibility of occasional ridden work. Similarly, grooming, clipping (not a requirement) and performance of other tasks may be required.

Salary: £25-30,000 per year, to be discussed depending on experience. 

Hours: 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday. Possibility to offer services to the liveries at weekends for supplementary income.

Possibility to bring your own horse.

Start Date April/May 2024
