A fabulous opportunity for a flexible all-rounder who is super-organised, loves horses, and is great with office admin, running a family and household. Perfect for someone who wants a role where they get as much time outside as well as inside.
I am looking for a highly responsible, self-motivated ‘can-do’ candidate for this interesting job, supporting a busy career mother and her two teenage daughters who have two lovely competition horses (15.2hh / 16.2hh, both 7 years) stabled at their Gloucestershire farm located between Cheltenham and Bisley.
Job description: the groom part of the role includes usual yard duties looking after two horses, riding/exercising/schooling; driving horses to competitions/lessons and helping teenagers with riding; the family assistant part of the role involves everything from paperwork/filing/bill paying to managing household appointments and maintenance work; school runs; errands; shopping; if mother is away or abroad working, staying overnight with children in house, on average two nights per week sole charge. (Great potential for the PA part of the role to grow, if someone is interested in office/management work.)
Facilities: stables; extensive grazing; large new arena; show jumps; hacking; hunt jumps.
Hours: Full time Monday - Friday with half days on Saturdays however candidates must be flexible to cover full Saturdays as and when required.
Holiday: four weeks paid holiday per year.
Salaried position: excellent salary for the right candidate.
Location: Farm near Bisley, Gloucestershire.
Accommodation: Newly decorated private Annexe with large bedroom and ensuite bathroom; downstairs kitchen and snug with wood burner. Heating, hot water, electricity and council tax all paid by employer.
The candidate may bring a horse and/or a dog if they wish, by negotiation.
Potential to hunt with Beaufort, Heythrop or Cotswold Hunt, by arrangement.
Driving licence essential as farm is remote. Very important, the candidate is as comfortable and motivated working alone as with others, as there can be days when they are on the farm alone and it's very remote. But there is a great community of horse/working people in the area to make friends with if the candidate is motivated to do so.
To start mid January 2025.
